Coffee, Cake, Craft and Chat - Program Information

About this program

What is Coffee, Cake, Craft and Chat?

Coffee, Cake, Craft & Chat is a small-group, centre-based NDIS program designed to provide a welcoming, low-pressure environment where participants can connect with others, build confidence, and develop practical skills — at their own pace. Each session combines creative activities, shared baking, and supported social interaction in a predictable and structured setting. The focus is on meaningful participation without expectation. Participants can chat, observe, create, or simply enjoy being part of the group. There is no requirement to have prior creative experience, strong social skills, or confidence in group settings. Support is available to scaffold safe and meaningful participation.

What we do

What happens each session?

Baking together
Participants can choose to help prepare a shared cake — measuring, mixing, following a recipe, and learning simple food preparation and kitchen safety skills at their own pace.
Art and craft
Bring your own project or choose from activities provided on the day — drawing, painting, collage, sewing, crochet, knitting, diamond art, and more. You can also work toward a meaningful personal project like a bag, blanket, or gift.
Sharing and connection
Once the cake is ready, those who wish can enjoy it together with coffee or tea. Sessions are designed to allow natural conversation and peer connection without pressure to socialise in particular ways.

What participants gain over time

Over time, participants often find themselves feeling more comfortable in social settings, making new friends through shared activities, and gaining confidence in food preparation and everyday tasks. The regular rhythm of the program builds a sense of routine and belonging.
